I am normally inclined towards short stories, so I got into buy this book the moment I see this. I first encountered Haruki Murakami through his short story, On seeing the 100% Perfect Girl One Beautiful April Morning which I read accidentally on internet. That was one of the saddest stories I'd ever read at that time. I got to be a fan of him after I had done with the story. I felt Murakami was someone I want to read.

The Elephant Vanishes is Haruki Murakami's collection of short stories. It consists of 17 short stories with the Dancing dwarf, the Kangaroo communique, On seeing the 100% perfect girl one beautiful April morning, and so on.

I like Haruki Murakami, especially his short stories, so I have tried to read all his short stories though I'm not much of a reader, and I get to be happy reading his. So I used to read it anywhere: a room, bench, during lunch break, parking slot, subway. I think every single one of these stories is worthy of your time to read. Especially On Seeing the 100% Perfect Girl One Beautiful April Morning.  :)

If there's one thing I've learnt after I've read, it's this; I'd rather not tempt fate. I'm just going to my way I want. I hope you take the time to read the stories for your better meeting, better fate to that. "It was impossible for them to know this, young as they were. Without a word, they passed each other, disappearing into the crowd. Forever." Listening such words always make us a little sad. Don't you think?
